The Music
Jayna began singing jazz at the George Washington University in 1998. After receiving her BA in Music with a concentration in classical voice in 2003, she returned to her home town of New Orleans. Being a Swing and Charleston dancer and instructor, Jayna would frequent the jazz clubs dancing to every jazz band in the city, and ask the bands to sing a song or two. After studying jazz performance under the direction of famed New Orleans jazz pianist Richard Scott, Jayna has branched out to perform at various jazz clubs around New Orleans and New York.
You can find Jayna performing with her band, the Sazerac Sunrise Jazz Band, around town. We specialize in songs from the early 1900’s to the 1940’s, ranging from Traditional Jazz to Gypsy Jazz to Swing Standards. To see us perform, check out the Calendar page for upcoming gigs!
