Jayna Morgan & the Sazerac Sunshine Band

The Dance

In early 2005, Jayna and dance partner Michael Norris formed NOLA Swing , an organization whose mission was to promote the teaching and love of swing dancing in New Orleans. They focused on the dances that are associated with the Big Band era. Jayna currently teaches at Dance Quarter, LLC with the famed International swing dance instructor, Nathalie Gomes, and at the National World War II Museum for their Summer Swings series and at the Stage Door Canteen.

With the proud New Orleans music heritage of our city, swing dancing is a fun and rewarding way for everyone to keep history alive. Jayna primarily teaches East Coast Swing (the Jitterbug), Lindy Hop, and her personal favorite, the Charleston. Other dances from this era that she promotes are Balboa, Collegiate Shag, and Blues dancing.

Jayna currently teaches group classes, private lessons, and workshops. She is also available for private performances, dressed in full costume from the 1920’s – 1950’s. For more information on upcoming classes, check out the Calendar page for upcoming gigs.
